Metrix has revolutionized the industry with our Digital Proximity System (DPS). A user is able to support a multitude of cable lengths, target materials and older probe systems with just a single device. Our Digital Proximity System combines the performance of a fully API 670 compliant eddy-current proximity measurement system with the flexibility of digital configurability. DPS saves our customers time and money.
Seismic vibration detection systems are often used by process industries, oil & gas, power generation, water and wastewater, construction, civil and mechanical engineering, and scientific research communities. Seismic vibration instrumentation measures casing vibration on bearing housings, machinery housings, and machine support structures, including piping. They are particularly suitable for machinery with rolling-element bearings and reciprocating compressors. These types of bearings will generally transmit both rotor and bearing-related vibration to the outside of the machine, where seismic measurements can detect it.
Why Metrix Vibration is the Premier Supplier of Seismic Vibration Products
We provide seismic sensors and transmitters that are easy to use and can help detect issues before they cause any significant problems for machines like fans, motors, pumps, cooling towers, gas compressors, and other machinery with rotating and reciprocating components. We set ourselves apart from our competitors by providing systems that make it easy to monitor and identify any potential issues.
We have various products available to help recognize machinery degradation and ensure your machines are running as they should. We offer top-of-the-line, affordable seismic vibration sensors that you can trust.
Industries We Serve
Our vibration products are used across many different industries. These industries include oil & gas, manufacturing plants, chemical plants, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and power generation plants, among many others.
A vibration switch is a special type of electronic switch that is triggered on or off when a certain pre-defined level of vibration has been measured. Such switches can be configured into simple alarms to alert you when a machine has gone out of tolerance or used as elements to shut down a machine in more complex custom monitoring and automation systems.
At Metrix Vibration, we offer top-of-the-line electronic and mechanical vibration switches for overall vibration monitoring and trending without the need for complex systems. We aim to be your preferred vibration switch manufacturer and supplier for any industry, and our goal is always to keep you and your business safe and productive. We offer models with Hazardous Area Ratings and explosion-proof housings to ensure your production lines stay safe. Our state-of-the-art electronic switches are configurable to suit user needs.
We carry a wide array of products, including electronic vibration switches, mechanical vibration switches, and vibration switch accessories.
What are Vibration Switches?
Vibration switches are safety features used in heavy machinery. They help protect the system if the machine is vibrating abnormally. Similar to a failsafe override, vibration switches are meant to protect the machine if the vibration amplitude goes beyond set limits. This prevents the machine from failing or causing injuries.
What Are Portable Industrial Shakers?
Portable industrial shakers are vibration instrument calibration tools. They play an integral role in ensuring any installed Seismic and Proximity Sensors and Transmitters are functioning properly and returning correct information to the Vibration Monitoring System (VMS) and Machinery Protection System (MPS), or to the Control System, Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and/or the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA).
Industrial shakers are a vibration source that vibrates your field sensor or transmitter to a known value. The shaker can be used to verify the entire loop from the vibration sensor or transmitter to the monitoring system or control system. This test ensures that your cable, sensor, transmitter, and any associated signal conditioning electronics are functioning properly. The functionality of the entire sensor and transmitter loop is required for an effective maintenance strategy. This allows people to have confidence in their instrumentation so that their predictive and proactive maintenance methodologies can be fulfilled.
Why Choose Industrial Shakers from Metrix?
Since its founding in 1965, Metrix’s roots have been firmly planted in seismic measurement technology, and since 2005, we have been the pioneers in improving proximity measurement technology. For over 55 years, we have been focused on developing machinery condition monitoring equipment for our clients and testing and analysis also play a prominent role in this strategy. Metrix has held ISO-9001 certification for more than 20 years, guaranteeing we stand by the quality and continual improvement of our manufacturing processes.
The Hardy Shaker is a necessary tool to ensure your maintenance strategy is effective. The Hardy Shaker validates the complete vibration loop and is traceable to NIST. It comes in two models - HI-903 and HI-913.
• HI-903 Hardy Shaker: The HI-903 is our top-of-the-line Hardy Shaker and offers onboard memory, multiple tests, automated Excel reports and a ruggedized case.
• HI-913 Hardy Shaker: The HI-913 is our standard model, and it’s used for heavy-duty field use, with a ruggedized case.
The Hardy Shaker ensures that the Seismic Sensors, Transmitters and Proximity Systems that you have installed works properly and gives you the results you need.
These are a variable frequency, variable amplitude, battery operated portable shakers capable of calibrating/verifying accelerometers, velocity sensors, transmitters, and proximity systems. It provides the ability to set the amplitude and change the frequency range without the amplitude changing. This automation makes conducting vibration tests very easy.
Rotating and reciprocating machines produce vibration and position information that is vital to understanding machine behavior. The Metrix Hardy Shaker produces a known vibration signal, in both amplitude and frequency, in g's pp (mm/s2), mils pp (µm pp), or ips pp (µm/s pp) for the sensor or transmitter. With our shakers, you will be able to create calibration reports on site, allowing you to validate the integrity of each instrument. With the HI-903 model, one can then save the data, and it can be transferred via USB Flash Drive to be displayed, in automated and customizable reports, using an Excel template on your computer.
Premier Industrial Shakers
Vibration monitor calibration with an industrial shaker ensures the information you are collecting reads true for the environment where the detection equipment is placed. Just like the pressure and flow instruments in your facility need calibration checks every year, so do your Seismic and Proximity Sensors and Transmitters. This system puts the calibration check of those transducers within your control and your budget. The most cost-effective maintenance strategy is predictive and proactive.
Maintaining your vital vibration monitoring equipment enables you to obtain early warning of a machine problem and prevent faults that can significantly increase your operating costs.
Portable vibration equipment allows you to quickly check the overall vibration of a machine whenever you want to, or to check the condition of a sensor or transmitter with one of our shakers. Overall vibration or technically direct amplitude is a measure of the severity of the vibration. Many people and many standards organizations attribute increasing vibration levels to machine degradation or other machines problems like unbalance or misalignment. At Metrix we teach that changing vibration levels from a normal condition is what should be concerning. Vibration levels going up or down significantly from normal should cause concern, not just increasing vibration levels. Having confidence in your portable data collection equipment and any permanently installed vibration monitoring equipment is paramount to an effective condition monitoring program. The portable vibration meters below, as well as the shakers, are integral to an effective predictive and or proactive maintenance program.
Whether you need a local display, alarm and shutdown capability, data recording, and the ability to communicate using Modbus over Ethernet TCP/IP; or you need to trend waveform and transient data to provide a predictive look at your machine’s condition, Metrix has a solution to meet your machinery monitoring requirements.
